Abstract in another language

On-board-diagnostics (OBD) of exhaust gas aftertreatment systems comprising particle filters requires highly sensitive soot sensors. We present a capacitive approach. For that purpose, we covered the planar interdigital Pt-electrodes of a resistive device by a thin but dense insulating alumina layer utilizing the novel aerosol-deposition method (ADM). Now, the capacitance – evaluated as the sensor signal – should change even before the whole region is covered by conductive soot because the electrical field distribution in the gap between the electrodes changes. We proved this theory by FEM-based simulations (COMSOL Multiphysics) as well as by real gas measurements.
