Abstract in another language

Despite of a long history of research, many questions concerning the electrode system Pt(O2)| yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) are still unanswered. One of the recent “hot topics” is the phenomenon of oxygen diffusion through Pt grain boundaries that was observed in sputtered thin-film Pt electrodes. Concerning thick-film Pt electrodes, information about the influence of oxygen transport through the electrode bulk is currently rather sparse. In order to identify relevant oxygen transport paths in thick-film electrodes, we analyzed screen-printed, but non-porous Pt electrodes on polycrystalline YSZ (which were also used in literature). The electrode processes were investigated at different oxygen partial pressures (pO2) and temperatures by applying electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. By varying the electrode geometry, three phase boundary and electrode area dependent processes could be separated. The nature of these processes are discussed based on their pO2 and temperature dependencies.
